STOIO (Flemish Research Organisation for Entrepreneurship and International Entrepreneurship)

The policy research centre STOIO will develop or further expand and maintain four core databases that are dedicated to research in the three pillars:

1) Creation of Companies
2) Growth of Companies
3) Exit / Takeover of companies

In addition the centre will construct and develop a number of complementary databases under the responsibility of the promotors of the horizontal themes of interest.

1) Innovation
2) Collaboration and Entrepreneurship
3) International  Entrepreneurship
4) Economic geography
5) Financing

The 3 pillars are the starting point for the long term research we plan to carry out within the policy research centre. In order to create an insight into the long term research questions related to the 3 pillars, we will develop several longitudinal databases. At least one database will be developed per pillar, with the specific promotor responsible for its development. Moreover, complementary databases will be used to address the horizontal themes of interest. It is important to note that all databases will be used by each of the research groups.

Within a pillar, several horizontal themes are identified. These themes have been defined as horizontal themes of interest. While working on the pillars, the research groups will devote attention to the different horizontal themes.

The databases that will be developed per pillar and horizontal themes of interest will be used by each of the research groups to address the research questions.
